1. Tharra – A homemade Indian alcohol made from fermenting sugar cane pulp in large ceramic containers. Doesn’t sound dangerous but if left to age the alcohol turns into poison. This has killed hundred of people ever year
2. Russian Aftershave – During the Soviet Union alcohol became harder to purchase due to the high excise duties. This led to people consuming surrogate alcohol which is a product that contents high levels of alcohol - not suitable for human use.
3. Thunderbird – This drink is completely legal to buy but turns your lips and mouth black if drunk in large quantities.
4. Pruno – Made from fermented fruit, sugar and ketchup. This is a popular drink made amongst prison inmates. The taste of this concoction is described as “vomit” as the unpleasant fermented scent is over powering.
5. Changaa – This drink is a homemade Kenyan alcohol made by criminal gangs. To increase the alcohol strength gangs have added car battery acid and jet fuel. Many people die drinking this every year.
